Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is a 2007 American comedy drama film directed by Gore Verbinski. It's the third film of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006).
Why it's great[]
- Interesting story
- Likeable and legendary characters
- Good character development
- Clever and funny humor
- Great directing
- The Jack and his coscience scenes were funny
- Davy Jones and Cutler Beckett are a good villains duo
- Great cast performance, especially those of Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley.
- Will becomes smarter in this movie taking inspiration by Jack towards the climax. The same happens with Elizabeth (despite the latter have this change at the beginning).
- Great soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer
- The Davy Jones and Calypso subplot is interesting and heartbreaking
- The relationship between Jack, Will and Elizabeth evolves for the best in this film.
- Elizabeth becomes a great character by becoming a strong and intelligent warrior after learning her mistakes.
- The final battle is epic and can be considered one of the best scenes in cinema history.
- The scene where Jack sacrificies his occasion to be immortal to save Will is heartwarming.
- The ending is a great set-up for the sequel.
Bad Qualities[]
- The scene where Jack's past as Beckett's employee is explained is cut and this cut a lot of depth on their conversation.
- Will is annoying in the first half of the movie when he betrays everyone to save himself and Elizabeth without caring about Jack.
